So the only anime geared convention is Mechacon in New Orleans. Although small compared to a lot of others, its still fun. I’d say by comparison to other conferences it is a chance to actually talk to people. (Oh smoker circle…). This year I am actually cosplaying. I do it for Halloween, but rarely for functions (I am just lazy). Thankfully I am not running solo and Storm will also be dressed to impressive (with our pre-bought) costumes. Gasp!

I know people vary on this mentality, but truth is I just don’t have time. Even if I could sew, I have a full time job, watch anime for reviews (which is the time a lot of cosplayers put into the cosplay), and work on this site while trying to maintain my sad example of a social life. I believe that if you buy the cosplay you still earned it (just don’t brag or lie.. be honest). I had to work that many hours to earn that money for it. I still do what I can to add to the outfit. I don’t “have makeup” on me, so I have to go buy some. I have to order contacts… work out and diet.. get shows.. and lots of little details I won’t say but costs a good bit. In short (besides the fact I am a buyer), I hope people can leave out the “elitest” mentality that is cosplaying sometimes. This is a topic I would like to go into more as the days to Mecha come closer and might start sharing some thoughts as we make the mid roll through anime.

Yes yes.. we have not updated everything. Some of that fault lies with me. Actually we have been organizing a table top game which has consumed a good bit of extra time that goes into the site. I have seen most of what I need to see (or want to see), so it more a matter of banners and updates. I would also like to write a bit more about Mechacon than I did about A-Kon.
